Abstract : The linguistic landscape, comprising visible language in public spaces such as signs, billboards, and posters, provides continuous exposure to authentic language input and serves as a powerful tool for vocabulary acquisition and cultural understanding. This article explores how local linguistic landscapes can be integrated into university-level English language teaching to enhance vocabulary development and promote active learning. Through a case study involving undergraduate students at Sultan Qaboos University, participants engaged in a photographic project documenting public signage, followed by collaborative discussions and vocabulary-focused assessments. The findings demonstrate that interaction with real-world language in everyday contexts supports incidental learning, reinforces morphological awareness, and deepens learners’ comprehension of linguistic and cultural nuances. The project also fostered learner motivation and connected classroom content with authentic language use, promoting critical thinking and intercultural competence. The study highlights the pedagogical potential of linguistic landscapes as an engaging, contextualized approach to language learning that bridges formal education and community language practices.
